The Author

Consuelo Páez Salvador de Campuzano graduated from Colegio de América in 1974. Then, she traveled to Birmingham, Michigan for six years. She undertook secretarial studies at WayneCountyCommunity College, History and Sociology at OaklandCountryCommunity College, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and French at Saint Mary’s College, May 1980. At OaklandCountyCommunity College she graduated as a CUM LAUDE and received a HISTORY DEPARTMENTAL AWARD. At Saint Mary’s College she graduated as a SUMA CUM LAUDE.

Upon returning to Ecuador, she enrolled at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Quito where she took literature courses. In 1998 she received a TESL certificate from The Canadian Institute of English and BerneUniversity from New Hampshire.

Her teaching experience goes from private Spanish classes to executives in the Detroit metropolitan area to tutoring foreign students at the universities in the state of Michigan, USA. In the city of Quito, Consuelo Páez Salvador was a Speech Professor at Universidad Central del Ecuador in the academic year 1982-1983. As an English teacher and Area Coordinator she hasdesigned the English Language programs at Colegio de América, Colegio SEK Internacional, Colegio Militar “Eloy Alfaro,” and Pensionado Universitario where she currently works. At the moment Consuelo Páez is part of the English teaching staff at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Quito.

Consuelo Páez has led teacher-training programs at the different educational institutions where she has worked. Consuelo Páez gave teacher-training workshops at the TESL Congress 2002 at the Fulbright Commission.

Among her cultural achievements, Consuelo Páez takes pride in having permanently contributed to the different students’ publications at the universities where she studied in Michigan.

Throughout her twenty year teaching experience in Ecuador, Consuelo Páez has coordinated several cultural events like the English Festival at Colegio de América, the writing of the magazineStudents’ Voice” at Colegio SEK Internacional, the experimentation of the subject “Tourism of Ecuador” at Colegio Militar “Eloy Alfaro”, the publications of the Pensionado Universitario students in “P.U. News,” and dozens of preparations for Inter-School English Speech contests.
